“Good health is the foundation of a country’s human capital, and no country can afford low-quality or unsafe healthcare” – World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim

According to a report issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the World Bank Group, low quality healthcare is certainly one of the biggest impediments to progress globally and people of all income levels.

In the current scenario, rising cost of healthcare, blunders in medication, erroneous diagnosis, false / unrequired treatment, derisory and unsafe clinical practices, shabby facilities, less than qualified practitioners and healthcare providers – are all very real conditions, and present a sordid picture of the condition of healthcare across the globe. In some countries, particularly the developing / low income ones, at least 10% of patients hospitalized, can expect to contract some kind of infection. The sad part about this is that infections from hospitals are easily avoidable, if only better hygiene was practiced in the form of proper use of antiseptics and antimicrobials, and attention given to methods of controlling infections.

Even though there are some realms where healthcare seems to have improved, for the most part it still is in a pitiable condition. The social and economic costs of low quality healthcare are taking their toll in the form of lowered productivity, long-term disability, injuries, and other such effects. It is therefore imperative that the focus on improving healthcare needs to be put in high gear, with some serious investments in terms of money, time, and other resources. Everyone must have access to top quality healthcare to ensure the all-round development of people across all strata of society.

We at Good and Humble are, in our own way, helping to improve the quality of life by ensuring that people can access and have the means to obtain good quality healthcare services. We actively seek volunteers to take up projects from start to finish, and we can help with providing the leads. It is our commitment to give back to society in every possible realm, and the issue of low quality healthcare certainly deserves attention since it has a widespread effect on several other factors as well.

It is our mission to ensure that healthcare (along with food, water, education, and sanitation) does not remain a luxury that only the rich can afford. While the large organizations we have mentioned are actively doing their bit, we at Good and Humble are trying our best to make consistent efforts. It is our endeavor to use technology at our disposal to accelerate the affordability and availability of high quality healthcare, and assist governing bodies to develop successful strategies towards this end.

It is our humble appeal for more volunteers, who can help to alleviate the problems that assail society today, and share this to more people on a global platform.
