Education disparity

“Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world”- Nelson Mandela

Having access to education is a basic need, a fundamental right of everyone – both for individuals and for the society at large. The unfortunate truth however, is that kids and youth today are denied access to this invaluable asset and we at Good and Humble are consistently striving to bridge this gap.

The economy of any country relies heavily on science and technology, and the lack of basic education does not bode well. The economic prosperity of a country depends on the education of the children and youth of today. The drastic rise in the number of poor people and the ever increasing economic inequality presents a sordid picture. This reveals that a very high number of youth have limited or no access to the means by which they can gain a strong educational foundation, which in turn could lead them contribute to the economy.

Some of the serious repercussions of educational disparity are:

  • Decrease in competitiveness globally
  • Higher rate of school dropouts
  • Increase in petty crimes owing to poverty
  • Youth and children an easy prey of outlaws, raising the level of lawlessness, drug abuse, and other serious crimes

We at Good and Humble believe that in order to end educational disparity, it is necessary to break the vicious cycles of poverty and undue privilege. Equitable distribution of wealth and creating societal awareness of the evils of poor education seem to be the solutions – though not as easy to do. While the government must do its part to increase funding for all schools, and making primary education free, we as citizens must conscientiously work towards creating and sustaining a more economically viable and robust society.

By volunteering and joining us in our efforts, we are certain that we will be able to bridge the gap, and make the education system accessible to a larger number of people. Our efforts can help to individualize and personalize education, thereby raising the engagement levels of children, youth and their parents, such that the dropout rates reduce. An educated society is a progressive and crime free society. Volunteer for the bright and safe future of your own kids!
